I was so excited to find my oldest daughter on GTL today.
GTL is an app that appears on our tablets that we are issued. Everyone is given one and they are nice but not great by any means. The tablets have the capability to make phone calls and video calls, but because the State of Kansas is so restrictive and can’t possibly police all the conversations taking place, they don’t allow either function on our tablets. These tablets have a good battery life, but the mag-safe chargers are pretty poor.
My oldest daughter or my wife must have added her onto the GTL app because I am seeing her on my tablet as a contact now. I’ve already learned that as a sex offender, I will be restricted from contact and communications with the kids, but am hopeful that the ‘override’ process will go through quickly so that I can keep in touch with them and still be a father to my children.
It also seems to me that there are some stark differences with the treatment of sex offenders when I look at the IMPP. I’m just digging into some of this and it’s really depressing, so I’m hoping it will not all apply to me based on the actual nature of my crime and the fact that my sentence is short enough.
