I am a Reader Now

This morning, when I was let out for my one hour of “day room” time alone, I made my phone call to my wife as well as my parents and then grabbed a couple books to read. The philosophy book from yesterday was awful. I got a much better option today. Debbie McComber is the author and she writes tons of short stories. The book I grabbed had a couple in there and it was perfect to get me through the rest of the day. I was able to read one during the day and then one in the evening before going to sleep. I really have never been a reader of books before. I read, but it was mostly sports and news articles or short posts on social media. Now I’m starting to settle in on enjoying to read. It’s much easier when there is literally nothing else to be doing.

Three other books that I really enjoyed and am grateful to have been able to grab here were; an Alex Cross book by James Paterson, The Rivera House by Natasha Lester and The Steel Wave by Jeff Shaara. These books were perfect for me. Both the Steel Wave and Rivera House were historical fiction and all of the Alex Cross books are easy entertainment. I recommend all three.

Sleep is still hard to come by and I’m so extremely cold with just a blanket and no real mattress to lay atop. I still stare at the ceiling or at the walls or door just thinking to myself and trying to figure out if all of this is real. It’s still very hard to wrap my head around and I need more books for distraction.
